Travel Reference Lanzhou 86km Liujiaxia - 54km Speedboat - Bingling Temple 5km Huangtiao Convergence Viewing Platform, 15km Luojiadong Temple Early 07:00 Gather at the designated location by car to Liujiaxia Dam (1.5 hours), take a speedboat from the dam to pass through the convergence of Tao and Yellow Rivers, Bingling Lake, Lotus Pier, Ancient Ferry, Three Gorges Stone Forest of the Yellow River, Three Dragons Spouting Pearls and other attractions (1 hour) before arriving at the national AAAA-level scenic spot Bingling Temple Grottoes (50 yuan/person). The grottoes are divided into Upper Temple, Donggou, and Lower Temple, with the main body consisting of the "Tang Dynasty natural Buddha" (Grotto No. 169) located high on the cliff and numerous small and medium-sized niches in the middle section of the cliff face. It is one of the three major grottoes in Gansu Province and also one of China's top ten grottoes. The Buddha statues from various periods are simple in style, semi-naked bodies, fluttering robes, graceful postures, static yet dynamic, proportionate, fully reflecting the thick and rugged charm of the northwest. On June 22, 2014, at the 38th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held in Doha, Qatar, the Bingling Temple Grottoes were successfully inscribed on the World Heritage List as part of the joint application for heritage by China, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan under the title "Silk Roads: the Routes Network of Chang'an-Tianshan Corridor." After touring, return to the dam by speedboat, go to Yongjing County town for lunch (self-catering), then drive to the Huangtiao Convergence Viewing Platform (visit for 40 minutes). The Yellow River and Tao River converge in front of Longhui Mountain in an "Y" shape, clear and turbid, blue and yellow, forming the famous boundary line known as "clear waters meet muddy waters," which is referred to as the "Huangtiao Convergence" spectacle. Standing on the mountain top, overlooking this scene, it truly resembles a huge mandarin duck pot. The Tao River is an important tributary of the Yellow River system, flowing through the western edge of the Loess Plateau, carrying a large amount of silt, hence appearing turbid. Therefore, when the Tao River collides with the Yellow River, the magical sight of "clear Yellow River, turbid Tao River" occurs. This place is also called "Two Dragons Playing with Pearls." The Yellow River and Tao River are like two giant dragons, clearly defined but not permeable to each other, with the riverbed stone mountains resembling two dragons playing here, hence locally this scene is habitually referred to as "Two Dragons Playing with Pearls." After visiting the Huangtiao Convergence, proceed to Luojiadong Temple, which is a Tibetan-Han fusion monastery built in the first year of the Jingtai era of the Ming Dynasty and completely destroyed by a fire in the eleventh year of the Tongzhi era of the Qing Dynasty. In the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, local philanthropist Luo Zhongcheng initiated fundraising to rebuild the temple, and the living Buddha of Labrang Monastery in Gannan, Karmayamu, appointed Master Gong Tang Luozhe to lead craftsmen to sculpt Buddha statues according to the original design. By the sixth year of Guangxu, the temple was finally completed and held the grand opening ceremony of the Longhua Benevolent Association. However, the temple was once again destroyed in 1958, with cultural relics lost and lamas returning to secular life. In 1982, with the initiative of local religious monks and government support, the living Buddha De Tang Xia Rong contributed funds to reshape hundreds of Buddha statues, allowing the temple to be rebuilt. People come to burn incense and worship continuously, making the temple even more prosperous. After the tour, return to Lanzhou to send off the group, ending a pleasant journey!
